The Kitchen Edit | A deVol Makeover

I love a kitchen, to be fair I don't think that there are many people out there who would say otherwise. And there is nothing more I love than a quick little face lift. If you've read any of my previous articles before, I'm sure you'll have picked up a good few quick refresh & restyle tips from me.

deVol Kitchens have the most stunningly gorgeous kitchen currently on the market and I have been a huge admirer of their work ever since I stumbled across their Instagram page one fateful winter afternoon way back in 2017. Their dedication to their craft and eye for detail is what made me fall for their kitchens, and they sure do know how to work with colour. And they have done exactly that with their Real Shaker Kitchen display at their Bond Street showroom in Manhattan, a bold and dramatic move from grey to deep dark red! The perfect dose of inspiration for this season as we all move towards embracing warmer and bolder colours in our interiors.

'The joy of a painted wooden kitchen is that it can be totally transformed with a new coat of colour. And that’s exactly what we did to the Real Shaker Kitchen display in our New York City showroom. These deVOL cupboards were beautiful before in their deep grey hue, but painted in our new ‘Refectory Red’ shade, they’re completely breathtaking.'

“I decided to change this showroom in NYC mostly to display and show people our new Refectory Red paint colour. I felt the rich red cupboards and warm yellow walls would work really well with the current Mediterranean scheme of the kitchen, in fact it works even better than I thought. I originally dressed the room with deep coloured props like oil paintings, Indian spice pots and garlands of dried chillies, and the new colour is the perfect backdrop. The dark slate floors have worn rugs flecked with reds across them and the whole vibe is rich and welcoming and actually creates an even better atmosphere than the grey.” says Helen Parker, deVOL’s Creative Director.

The Before Images

'You can see four deVOL Kitchen ranges, along with a wonderful selection of our beautifully handmade home accessories at number 28 Bond Street in Manhattan, but the Real Shaker Kitchen display is made especially for those who want a handmade English kitchen on a smaller budget. This collection of furniture is modular, it doesn’t compromise on style or quality but offers a simple and more economical way of designing a kitchen. Inspired by traditional Shaker style, the almost chameleon-like quality of these cupboards allows you to easily add your own character, soul and creative flair, and totally switch the look up with a new paint colour or change of styling as you like, as the seasons change or as your taste changes.'
